One of the biggest fashion retailers in the US, American Eagle Outfitters, has confirmed a new store at Bluewater in Kent.
Located on Bluewater’s Lower Thames Walk, the 4,800 sq ft shop is expected to open this autumn on a 10-year lease.
The fashion chain is also in talks to open a store at Westfield’s shopping centres in east and west London.
American Eagle Outfitters has more than 1,000 stores in the US.
“We are excited to officially announce the upcoming launch of American Eagle Outfitters in the UK,” said Simon Nankervis, executive vice-president, Americas and global country licensing, at American Eagle Outfitters. “We see a tremendous global appetite for the American Eagle Outfitters brand and believe that having a presence at Bluewater will provide great exposure for us in this significant new market.”
Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Lend Lease, which manages the mall, added: “American Eagle Outfitters’ selection of Bluewater as a launch location highlights the unique strength of Bluewater’s catchment, which consists of both metropolitan consumers living in London and an equally fashion-conscious wider catchment drawn from the majority of the South East. This combination provides brands such as American Eagle Outfitters with the best of both worlds.”
CBRE acted for Bluewater; Harper Dennis Hobbs represented American Eagle Outfitters.
