NI market picks up with £144m of deals

A total of £143.7m of deals have been signed in the Northern Ireland market in the first half of 2014. This is more than the deal flow for the previous three years combined, according to CBRE.

The majority of the nine deals that have taken place so far were in the retail sector. Notable transactions include the Shane Retail Park to US investor Marathon for £30m, reflecting a yield of 7.36%, and the sale to the same investor of the Tesco-anchored Cityside Retail Park for £24m, reflecting a yield of 7.87%.

This figure is “all the more remarkable” because it does not include any loan sales, a note from CBRE this morning said.

Nama sold its entire Northern Irish loan book, the £4.5bn Project Eagle, in June.
