Newcastle city council has recommended for approval a 259-bed student housing scheme with ground-floor leisure uses.
Despite numerous objections based around noise and sunlight, developer Westgate Road Newcastle intends to build blocks between two and seven stories high on the site of the former Westgate House and Norwich Union House buildings.
The 0.6 acre site plan will be considered by the council planning committee on Friday 25 July.
