Boles takes construction brief

Former planning minister Nick Boles has been given the construction brief within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, replacing Matthew Hancock.

British Property Federation chief executive Liz Peace said: “We are pleased to see that Nick Boles has been allocated the construction brief, and believe that his background as planning minister will serve him well in this new role.

“Boles’s understanding of the issues that the commercial and residential property sectors face will be particularly helpful as he takes on this new patch.”

Boles was moved off the planning patch in the July reshuffle. He will now also take on the rail and retail business sectors.

Hancock replaced Michael Fallon as minister for business energy and Portsmouth in the same reshuffle, while Brandon Lewis took on the housing and planning briefs, displacing Kris Hopkins.
