Damien Hirst buys London mansion

Nash Terrace BIG

British artist Damien Hirst has bought a John Nash-designed mansion overlooking Regent’s Park, NW1, for £34m.

The artist is understood to be the purchaser behind a Grade I-listed building at Hanover Terrace.

The five-storey property was built in 1822, and residential experts said development work would see the value of the asset soar.

It was bought from Anne Van Lanschot who put the building up for sale last year. She is from a Dutch private banking dynasty and has lived in the property for more 45 years with her family.

For Hirst, the purchase is his latest real estate project. He is planning 750 eco-friendly homes on 187 acres of land that he owns in Ilfracombe, Devon.

Carter Jonas advised the vendor. The company declined to comment on the deal.
