C&W scores with Beckham
JLL’s James Beckham has been appointed as a partner to lead Cushman & Wakefield’s London capital markets practice. Beckham will leave his role at JLL as director of capital markets. He has been with the company for 18 years, having joined King Sturge’s City investment team in 1996. He will work closely with C&W UK chief executive Digby Flower.
Sizzling future for sex shop
A former Soho sex shop and illegal strip club at 24 Great Windmill Street, W1, is to be converted into a restaurant after the Soho Housing Association won planning permission for the revamp this week. The 1,980 sq ft restaurant will be operated by Hawksmoor’s grill concept Jacob’s Ladder.
JLL nabs Deloitte Dubai man
Deloitte Real Estate’s Ollie Saunders is leaving to join JLL’s London team as a director in valuation in November. He spent 20 years with Deloitte Real Estate and Drivers Jonas, most recently as head of the valuation business based in Dubai. In his new role, Saunders will concentrate on growing JLL’s infrastructure and public sector service offer.
Capita puts pen to paper mill
Forest products firm SCA has appointed Capita to advise on options for its 100-acre former paper mill site at Oughtibridge, Sheffield. The company will undertake a review of the estate, which comprises. 350,000 sq ft of industrial buildings and a number of houses.
Colliers mills JLL
Colliers International has hired JLL’s former head of Manchester to run its investment business in the North West. Jonathan Mills had worked for JLL for 13 years, most recently as part of its West End investment team.
