Global trip for Battersea Power Station

The owner of iconic Battersea Power Station, SW8, is taking its £8bn plans on a global tour to secure world-class retailers and businesses for the 42-acre site.


The Battersea Power Station Development Company will showcase the plans to 13 cities in 11 countries between 31 October and the end of November. Dubai, Tokyo, New York and Shanghai are among places that will be visited.


Businesses will be sought to occupy 3.5m sq ft of commercial space, of which 1.6m sq ft will be for office use.


As part of the tour, there will also be an opportunity for people to purchase 539 of the 1,305 homes in phase three of the development.


A consortium of architects have designed the mixed-use project including Wilkinson Eyre, Ian Simpson Associates, dRMM, Foster + Partners, Rafael Viñoly and Gehry Partners.


Rob Tincknell, chief executive of Battersea Power Station Development Company, said: “The power station is unique, having a very powerful existing brand profile. Together with other leading global retail and business brands, we believe this combination will create a truly world-class destination and a significant addition to the fabric of London.”


Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, chairman of Battersea Power Station Holding Company, added: “The shareholders’ ambition for Battersea Power Station is to create an amazing new urban quarter for London and one that is enjoyed both day and night.”
