Plans for a £100m mixed-use scheme in the heart of Brighton have been approved.
Cathedral Group (now part of Development Securities) and McLaren Property have got the green light for 142 new homes, 450 student beds and 38,000 sq ft of new office space at Circus Street.
The Shedkm-designed proposals will transform the derelict municipal market building.
Richard Upton, chief executive of Cathedral Group, said: “Our ambition is to transform the area into a vibrant new quarter of the city, bringing cultural, economic and educational benefits to a currently deprived area.”
The development also includes plans for a new University of Brighton library and academic building.
Construction will commence in late 2015 aiming to complete the full scheme in mid 2017.
