Property ProKart Challenge: the results

The 2014 Property ProKart Challenge, held in association with Estates Gazette, roared off the grid at Daytona Milton Keynes last month, with 31 teams competing in the 17th annual property networking event.

More than 240 property rev-heads took to the track on Daytona’s new Sodi RT8 Karts for an eight-hour team endurance race, after a practice run the night before. A group curry night provided the necessary fire in the belly for some serious performances.

Knight Frank, Cowell Group Motorsport and Riseden Racers showed early promise in qualifying during the Cowell Group and London & District Housing-sponsored event, but new talents emerged during the course of the race as advantages were played out and obstacles emerged.

Teams were offered a shortcut each hour, slicing eight seconds off a lap. But while lap times tumbled, choosing the right time to take the shortcut was key.

By 11am, teams were forced to pit their karts and complete a wheel change – some more deftly than others.

Shortly after, a lunch break gave teams the opportunity to analyse their performances, and the leaderboar, with the two sponsors on top.

Team Centrick Property, Riseden Racers, Knight Frank and Livermores – The Estate Agents continued to jostle for third.

But finally, as the chequered flag went out, London & District 1 had won ahead of Cowell Group Motorsport, with Riseden Racers taking third.

The event raised £5,000 for Variety.

The 2015 event will be held on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September. To reserve a team place, call Mark Wimblett on 0845 644 5504.
