Westminster council announces management reshuffle

The new senior management team at Westminster city council has been confirmed following a restructure which included the departure of Rosemarie MacQueen.

Ben Denton will be taking on the role of executive director for growth, planning and housing. He was strategic director of housing, regeneration and property.

Leith Penny will be executive director for city management and communities until the end of March 2015 when he retires.

The appointments come after Westminster last month announced MacQueen – strategic director for the built environment – would be leaving after 38 years of service.

Charlie Parker, chief executive of the council, said: “These are exciting yet challenging times, and I’m looking forward to working with this talented team to find new ways of continuing to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.”

Denton added: “The new structure will give us even more scope to deliver services in a way that meet the financial challenges in innovative ways. There is no doubt that there will be even tougher times ahead and I look forward to working with colleagues on finding solutions.”
