Urban-Villa-Edinburgh-570p

Union Hanover has lodged plans for a 180-bedroom, £35m waterside hotel in Edinburgh.

The Grzywinski + Pons and Michael Laird Architects-designed plans will sit under the firm’s Urban Villa concept, which includes a kitchen and living room as well as beds.

Subject to planning consent from city of Edinburgh council, the hotel will be located on Freer Street at Fountainbridge.

It is one of a number of schemes planned by union Hanover, which has a £350m UK development pipeline. It is partnered by EquityBridge Asset Management.

Union Hanover managing director Eric Jafari said: “The designs pay homage to Edinburgh’s cultural fabric of elegance while infusing elements of sexy Manhattan feel.”

Paul Heap, managing director of Amco Developments, the project’s development manager, said: “The design team has worked tirelessly to enable delivery of  the Urban Villa vision and we’re all very excited to be in for planning and hoping to start on site in Spring 2015.”
