The deadline has been extended for the two parties interested in taking over pub landlord Spirit to indicate their offers.
Greene King has until 5pm on 4 November and C&C Group has until 5pm on 20 November to indicate their firm intention to make an offer.
Dublin-based C&C, which makes the Magners and Bulmers cider brands, has offered 11.5p per share, valuing Spirit at £760m.
This is higher than Green King’s offer, which values Spirit at £750m. However, Greene King’s offer will give Spirit shareholders a 29% stake in the new business, which will be the UK’s largest managed pub company.
