This year’s LandAid Day raised a whopping £90,000 as more than 50 property and construction firms took part in the annual day of fundraising for disadvantaged UK children and young people. Some 3,000 people in more than 110 offices participated nationally.
Among the highlights was a Guinness World Record for Cushman & Wakefield, for the most people playing Monopoly in a single venue. Some 277 staff congregated at C&W’s Portman Square, W1, HQ, for the world’s biggest game of Monopoly, raising £2,000 for the charity.
Other charitable efforts came from GVA chief executive Rob Bould and managing director Malcolm Whetstone, who, donned in lederhosen, went head-to-head in a sweaty 500m Rollapaluza sprint, a Barry’s Bootcamp beasting led by Legal & General Property managing director and British Property Federation president Bill Hughes, and a hopefully less sweaty industrial-sized Great British Bake Off competition at SEGRO.
The day closed with a party at the Leadenhall Building, sponsored by Laing O’Rourke and hosted by British Land, the City Property Association and Oxford Properties, which raised £26,000.
Outgoing LandAid chief executive Joanna Averley said: “The sheer variety of LandAid Day activities is testament to our network of fantastic supporters, who made the day the best ever.”
