Motorists to get £15bn ‘roads revolution’

New lanes will be built on motorways across the country as part of a £15bn investment programme to be announced next month.

The chancellor’s Autumn Statement will detail how the money will be spent on 100 major road projects by the end of the decade.

Speaking today at the CBI’s annual conference in London Prime Minister David Cameron will say the government will embark on the “biggest, boldest and most far-reaching road improvement programme” for 40 years.

Roads scheduled from improvement include the A303 and the A1.
