Tim Garratt is to replace Robert Hartley as managing director of East Midlands-based agent Innes England.
Hartley, who has headed the firm for more than a decade, will become Innes chairman when the reshuffle takes effect on 1 January 2015.
Garratt is one of the best-known agents in the East Midlands and has been a director at Innes England for 15 years.
He said under his leadership the agency would seek further expansion in London.
The company currently employs 55 staff in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham.
Garratt said the expansion plans may also include new office space in Leicester and Derby.
“We’ll ultimately move away from a three-office mentality and have work streams,” he said.
“There is a logic to expand and it makes sense to open an office in London – Robert and I will be working closely to develop our growth nationally.”
Hartley, who joined Innes England in 1997, will continue to run the firm’s professional services following his ascension to chairman in the new year.
