Investec is in talks to significantly expand its operations on Gresham Street, EC2.
The international banking giant is under offer to sublet two floors totalling circa 60,000 sq ft at Commerzbank’s 30 Gresham Street headquarters.
It has agreed to pay more than £55 per sq ft for the seventh and eight floors of the 403,000 sq ft building, which was bought last year by Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management on behalf of Samsung.
Commerzbank’s lease on the building – which was developed by Land Securities in 2003 – expires in 2028.
The German bank refurbished excess space on the ground, seventh and eight floors last year and appointed Knight Frank and Savills as letting agents.
The deal reflects the growing confidence of financial services occupiers.
Investec is headquartered at 2 Gresham Street and has repeatedly considered taking expansion space over the past few years.
Knight Frank is advising Investec.
