The number of new homes being built in the UK has risen by 10% to 136,610 this year, but that is still barely half the number needed.
The increase id the first since 2007-08 and is the best construction rate for three years, according to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Industry experts have said construction levels need to return to the 223,530 homes built in 2007.
