The Qatar Investment Authority and Brookfield Property Partners have asked former top civil servant Lord (Gus) O’Donnell to help with their bid to buy Canary Wharf.
Lord O’Donnell, who is nicknamed ‘God’ for the way for the way he initialled documents, is a non-executive director of Brookfield Asset Management. The bidders hope he will exert some influence on Canary Wharf Group’s management and its parent company Songbird Estates.
