Lambeth council and Network Rail have appointed AECOM and Fluid Architects to work with local residents to draw up a Brixton Central masterplan.
The project is centred on Brixton station and will include development of the ice rink around Valentia Place.
The council aims to provide 250 homes and around 646,000 sq ft of new commercial space, providing an additional 500 jobs and bringing in £1m annual spending to the local economy.
Network Rail is also investing in the railway arches along Atlantic Road and Brixton Station Road, between Brixton Road and Pope’s Road.
Brixton council is aiming to draw up a development brief based on feedback from the public by January.
