Amazon ‘not trying to kill Royal Mail’

Christopher North, the boss of Amazon in the UK, has said that it is not trying to harm Royal Mail by launching its own delivery service.

He argued that Amazon Logistics was intended to compliment, not replace, its usual carrier over busy periods such as Christmas and Black Friday.

Amazon, which has 13 delivery hubs and two sorting offices, works with 45 delivery firms in the UK, but sources claim that up to half of this traffic will be handled by Amazon Logistics.

Amazon expects to shift more than 4.1m orders as a result of this Black Friday.
