BP is likely to bring forward plans to cut staff, as the recent sharp fall in the price of oil takes its toll.
The cuts are likely to affect non-operations staff, including in areas such as procurement, legal and communications. An announcement is expected Wednesday on the culling of hundreds of jobs at the company’s offices in London, Sunbury and Aberdeen.
Many of the jobs are no longer needed after BP sold assets to meet the costs of the Deepwater Horizon accident. The company has 84,000 employees, of which 15,000 are located in the U.K.
