Green levies to rise

The almost two million households that rely on electricity for heating could face green levies totaling £360 annually by 2030, according to a report by the Committee on Climate Change.

The charge is forecast to rise to £210 by 2020 and £360 by 2030 for electrically heated households, double that of households that use gas for heating.

The households, which account for 7% of U.K. homes, are typically rural properties or town flats, paid around £90 in subsidies towards wind farms, and solar and nuclear power in 2013.
