For the 200 families of Xin Jia An, 30 miles from Beijing, the sight of bulldozers coming to raze their village to the ground will be a welcome one.
When the village was rumoured as the site of the new Beijing airport runway, the villagers went into debt to extend their houses, hoping that their homes would be demolished and that they would receive compensation and an easier life.
Now their wish has come true, as Beijing has officially announced that the sleepy village will be knocked down and the villages paid full compensation.
