Fewer than 100,000 homes were sold in the UK in November, the first time in a year that sales have fallen below this level.
HM Revenue and Customs figures show 98,490 homes were sold in November, the lowest since November 2013, when 99,320 properties were sold.
Separately, figures from the British Bankers’ Association showed mortgage approvals fell to an 18-month low of 36,717 in November.
