Architects Quinlan and Francis Terry have drafted plans for a classically-inspired ‘ground-scraper’ as part of a bid for the Hyde Park barracks site.
The 8-storey apartment terrace, which resembles something Haussmann might have penned for Paris, is being put forward as an alternative to proposals from Wilkinson Eyre and Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, which feature a series of apartment towers rising to 15 storeys.
Mayor Boris Johnson invited alternative designs when he awarded the scheme planning consent last year.
The site is expected to have a price tag of around £650m when MOD is invites bids later this year.
