Work on a 1m sq ft expansion of the Pinewood-Shepperton studios in west London can begin after planning consent was secured for the first phase.
South Bucks district council has approved phase one plans for the site, comprising 500,000 sq ft of studio accommodation.
The consent follows outline planning approval for the whole project in June 2014 from the communities and local government minister Eric Pickles.
Rob Lucas, chief executive of Turley, which advised on planning, said: “This is an important milestone for an iconic studio and will enable Pinewood to remain at the forefront of the global film industry. We are proud to have played a role.”
