More than 50 depots at failed parcel carrier City Link will be axed by 15 January.
Administrators at EY acting for City Link, said today that the 51 UK depots would close over the next eight days.
Some 230 job losses were also announced, in addition to 2,356 redundancies made on 31 December– a week after EY was appointed administrator to the business following continued losses.
Properties which will close are located across the country. Sites affected include in Edinburgh, Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol, as well as buildings in London.
Hunter Kelly, joint administrator of City Link said: “It is with regret that we announce further redundancies at City Link, which will take effect over the coming days as the company’s remaining UK depot operations close. Having returned a large volume of parcels to City Link’s customers and recipients over recent days, it is no longer viable to continue operating these depots and a phased plan to close them has begun.”
At the time of EY’s appointment to the company last month, Kelly said the firm had “incurred substantial losses over several years”.
