Centre Point transformation starts

CentrePoint-revamp-570Mike Hussey’s Almacantar will today start the residential redevelopment of London landmark Centre Point, WC1.

Construction follows years of planning to implement the consent that was granted in July 2013 to convert the office building into 82 luxury flats.

During construction, the 145,000 sq ft 1960s grade-II listed office block will be wrapped in artwork by global fashion and design company Eley Kishimoto.

Plans are also in place to redevelop the offices at Centre Point Link into restaurant and bar space, and convert the first and second floors of Centre Point House from offices into 41,780 sq ft of shops and restaurants.

Kathrin Hersel, development director at Almacantar, said: “The start of construction at Centre Point is a pivotal moment for a scheme that has been more than three years in the making. The project will breathe new life into this landmark.”

Brookfield Multiplex is the contractor on the project.
