Attracting global retailers and eateries is next on the agenda for “Olympicopolis”, its owner said after tempting the world’s largest museum and research institution to the site.
The London Legacy Development Corporation is seeking out firms from Europe, America and further afield to complete the Culture and University Quarter at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, E20.
Food and beverage firms will be among tenants sought for the remaining 75,000 sq ft available in the 830,000 sq ft culture district.
Rosanna Lawes, director of development at LLDC, said: “We are being very targeted in our approach to securing new occupiers at the site. The market is very excited about the park and we are aware of some suitable requirements.”
This week the LLDC announced that it had secured Washington DC-based Smithsonian to open 40,000 sq ft of exhibition space at the site.
The Smithsonian’s Stratford centre will be its first permanent site outside of the US.
It will join the Victoria & Albert, University of the Arts London, and Sadler’s Wells at the park.
In total, the park – dubbed Olympicopolis – comprises 560 acres with more than 4.3m sq ft of commercial space, much of which is being delivered by Lend Lease.
