Ad men join London’s tech set at Alphabeta

Alphabeta-EC2A subsidiary of Martin Sorrell’s WPP is one of three occupiers that have taken a 77,000 sq ft chunk of the Alphabeta building in Shoreditch, EC2.

The deals with landlord Resolution Property mean the 220,000 sq ft office block is now 85% let.

Media agency Maxus Global, part of WPP, has signed a 13-year lease for 33,000 sq ft.

At the same time, marketing business We Are Social has taken 26,000 sq ft and restaurant reservation service OpenTable has agreed a 15,000 sq ft letting. Both have taken 10-year leases at an average of £55 per sq ft.

Jacob Loftus, associate at Resolution Property, said: “These lettings firmly establish Alphabeta as the favourite office location for growing digital, media and technology companies seeking a statement building in London’s most vibrant work and lifestyle quarter.”

Alphabeta is undergoing extensive remodelling in an attempt to appeal more to TMT occupiers. Work includes moving the main entrance from the City-facing Finsbury Square to the north side of the building, facing Shoreditch.

Allsop and Savills acted for Resolution; Hall Kemp advised Maxus Global; Devono represented We Are Social; Savills advised OpenTable.
