Urban&Civic jets into hotel

Stansted-airport.jpegUrban&Civic has committed to developing a 330-bedroom hotel providing pedestrian access into Stansted airport in Essex.

The developer has conditionally exchanged contracts for £8m to acquire a 2-acre plot. Subject to conditions being satisfied, construction will start in July with completion by May 2016.

The airport is one of a number of updates the firm will outline at its annual general meeting today.

In Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, negotiations are advancing with prospective local house building partners for a 127-home scheme, while in London’s Victoria, office block Howick Place, SW1, is under offer at £207m.

Meanwhile in Manchester the group has held initial meetings with Manchester city council following its purchase in December last year of two major development sites.

Nigel Hugill, executive chairman said: “Development of a new 330-bedroom on-terminal hotel at Stansted is further demonstration of an unequivocal positioning towards consumer-facing investment in identified regional UK locations where real disposable incomes look set to rise.”
