Ally Pally makeover gathers momentum

Alexandra-Palace-overview-1000pxPlans to bring back into use the eastern end of  Alexandra Palace, N22, as part of a wider  revamp have been approved by Haringey council.

The council last night gave the green light to restore the former BBC studios with interactive displays and tours, as well as a café and refurbishment of the Victorian theatre.

Haringey Council Leader Claire Kober said: “Alexandra Palace has become a hugely successful venue, but with parts of the building in a state of serious decay, we have to act now to restore and preserve this landmark for generations to come.”

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios-designed plans for the north London landmark are the first phase of a wider masterplan.

In February 2013 Knight Frank was appointed to find potential development partners for a Terry Farrell-designed scheme including a hotel.
