AXA hopes money grows on trees

AXA Real Estate Investment Managers has bought 9,142 acres of Finnish forest on behalf of AXA Insurance.

It paid £8.2m for three estates, the first forests it has purchased outside France.

AXA said the deal, in conjunction with forestry company UPM, marks the beginning of a strategy to diversify in countries where forestry-related industries account for a significant proportion of GDP.
