Cluttons partner joins BNP PRE

BNP Paribas Real Estate has recruited former Cluttons partner and head of lease advisory Bob Maxted Jones. He will join as a senior director in BNP PRE’s lease advisory team, focusing on the West End office market. Maxted Jones joined Cluttons in 2008 from Dunlop Haywards’ landlord and tenant team.

Hines poaches retail specialist

Hines has poached Grosvenor’s UK shopping centre asset manager Sharon Bloodworth, as it continues its expansion away from offices into retail.Bloodworth will join as a director of UK shopping centre asset management, after Hines purchased the 1m sq ft Centre in Livingston in December on behalf of HSBC.

Charles Clowes passes away

Derbyshire development tycoon and chairman of CWC Group Charles Clowes has died. Clowes founded the business – which included the Clowes Developments companies – in 1964. He built up a 120-strong portfolio including the former Christie’s warehouse in Battersea, SW8, and the former Didcot A power station in Oxfordshire.

Hotel tower plan for Stratford

Union Hanover Securities has submitted plans for a £100m-plus dual hotel scheme at Stratford City, E20. The development comprises the 137-bed Adagio hotel and the 249-bed Penny Brook, a 25-storey tower. Union Hanover aims to start work on the Grzywinski+Pons Architects-designed scheme this year.

Footballers score MSE consent

Former Manchester United footballers Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have won consent for the conversion of the listed former Manchester Stock Exchange into a 35-bedroom boutique hotel. The Grade II listed building will also include bars, a restaurant, and flexible event space. Zerum and AEW Architects advised.
