Urban&Civic has acquired Catesby Property Group, a planning-led, strategic land company set up by Eric Grove, for £34m.
Catesby has interests in land holdings comprising 5,300 units across 21 sites in areas of high housebuilder demand in the Home Counties and southern parts of the Midlands.
Approximately half of these units represent a consented urban extension of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, where Catesby has an 82% interest. This is in line with Urban&Civic’s focus on delivering new communities centred around transport links.
Grove has agreed to act as a consultant to Urban&Civic for a period of 24 months and all other staff, including Catesby chief executive Paul Brocklehurst, will remain with the group.
Nigel Hugill, executive chairman at Urban&Civic, said: “Catesby has achieved consistent, planning-led success over almost 20 years and incorporation within Urban&Civic will enable the key Newark project to be developed in accordance with our business model that invests early in community infrastructure and public realm.”
