Edinburgh-based grain producer Greenshields Agri is planning a listing on London’s Alternative Investment Market.
The company is looking to raise £3m via the listing, and will use the proceeds to buy farmland in Northumberland, adding to existing land holdings there and in Berwickshire and East Lothian.
Farmland has risen sharply in value over recent years, a fact that is likely to appeal to investors. However Richard King, head of research at farm business consultants Andersons, warned that yields from farming are likely to be less than 1%.
