Cathay closes in on Walbrook

The-Walbrook-THUMB.jpegCathay Life is under offer to buy the Walbrook Building, EC4, for £580m.

The Taiwanese life insurer has agreed terms with Jupiter Property Partners, the Delancey and Ares joint venture which bought Walbrook developer Minerva in 2011.

The deal would crystalise a significant profit for the jv, which bought Minerva for £202.6m. At the time the recently completed Walbrook was vacant.

Jupiter completed the leasing of the 400,000 st ft building last year. Tenants include insurer Arthur Gallagher and joint letting agent JLL.

Knight Franck and CBRE advised on the sale.
