Milton Keynes council has approved plans for a £20m hotel-led mixed-use development in the town centre.
The scheme will be developed by UGS MK, a subsidiary of Bursha Holdings.
The site is the final phase in Milton Keynes’ theatre district and will include a seven-storey, 130-room Premier Inn alongside 2,500 sq ft of retail and 10,500 sq ft of leisure including restaurants and bars.
Construction is set to start in summer 2015 and is expected to complete in late 2016.
Jonathan Manns, Colliers International planning director, which advised on the development, said: “This scheme represents a key opportunity to support central Milton Keynes’ role as a leisure and entertainment destination. It’s a good example of how regeneration, focused on complementariness as opposed to competition, can support existing areas and catalyse change.”
