Green sells HQ as BHS trades

BHS-THUMBThe grandson of legendary property investor “Black Jack” Dellal has bought the West End headquarters of BHS from retail tycoon Sir Philip Green.

Alexander Dellal has bought the freehold interest in North West House, 199-127 Marylebone Road, NW1, from the Arcadia Group owner. Last year Green bought the freehold of the building from Prudential for £31m.

Sources said that Dellal had paid close to £40m for the 46,499 sq ft building, but he declined to comment on the price.

The deal comes as Green announced the sale of the 185-strong BHS department store chain to investment vehicle Retail Acquisitions. North West House is BHS’s headquarters, opening in May 2007 after an extensive refurbishment.

All parties were unrepresented.
