Bruntwood buys old BBC HQ

BBC_New_Broadcasting_House_ManchesterBruntwood has acquired the former BBC site on Oxford Road, Manchester, as tipped by Estates Gazette last year.

The BBC site is owned by Yousef Tishbi’s Realty Estates and was put on the market for around £30m.

The scheme proposed by Bruntwood will deliver 900,000 sq ft of commercial space as well as a hotel and flats.

The deal represents an expansion of Manchester’s innovation district, Corridor Manchester, where around £1.25bn has been invested in the past 10 years and a further £1.25bn is planned and committed in the next six years.

Bruntwood chief executive Chris Oglesby said: “The finished scheme, plus the central Corridor campus of MSP, Citylabs and Alderley Park represent a world-class cluster of around 3m sq ft of commercial space aimed at satisfying the incredible demand that Manchester is witnessing from these fast growing sectors of the economy.”

Addleshaw Goddard advised Bruntwood; Davis Blank Furness advised Realty.
