Jaguar Land Rover doubles in Coventry

Jaguar-Land-Rover-THUMB.jpegJaguar Land Rover is to double the size of its operations at its headquarters in Coventry.

The car giant has acquired land surrounding its existing main base in Whitley, effectively more than doubling its 55-acre home to 120 acres.

The latest investment into the area will enable Jaguar to develop greener, ultra-low emission cars, and will see an expansion of its existing advanced engineering and design centre.

Coventry city council leader Ann Lucas believed the move was a game changer for the city. She said: “Jaguar’s heart has always been in Coventry and now its brain is going to be as well.”

Last August, Jaguar unveiled plans to open a new £20m, 225,000 sq ft special vehicle operations technical centre at Prologis Park, Ryton, located close to Coventry. It took a 10-year lease with a break at year five at a rent of £5.95 per sq ft.

Jaguar has doubled its UK workforce in the past five years to 18,000 staff.
