London rents hit by change to ‘affordable’

Around 25,000 London homes have been changed to affordable housing from social housing over the last two years, figures from the greater London Authority show.

Affordable rents are typically up to 80% of private rents while social rents are generally half the market rate. The switch has cost the city’s poorest households some £70m.
