Beatles connection means property price premium

A three-bedroom semi-detached house at 1 Blomfield Road in Liverpool sold at auction earlier this week for £155,000, around £40,000 more than comparable properties in the area.

The house, where John Lennon’s mother lived at the time of her death, was bought by Jackie Holmes, who last year paid £156,000 for the childhood home of George Harrison.

In the last 18 months, one of Paul McCartney’s childhood homes sold for £154,000, while the home that Lennon lived in till he was five-years old sold for £480,000 – representing premiums of 100% to 200%. Lennon did not live in the Blomfield Road house.
