FINANCE: Global REITs delivered more than four times the returns of the S&P 500 in the first three months of 2015, according to the latest data from US trade body NAREIT.
The data comes from the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index which looks at 472 listed REITs across the world.
It showed a return in dollar values of 4.04% compared to 0.95% for the S&P index. This was a dividend yield of 3.21%
The European sector delivered the strongest returns, at 6.01% it was nearly 2% higher than returns from US listed in FTSE NAREIT all REIT Index.
The data showed that all US REITs, including equity REITs, had a total return of 4.05% in the first three months of 2014. The US REIT industry also raised another $22bn (£14.8bn) in the first four months of the year.
The Global REIT market has a total market capitalisation of $1.46tn.
