LSH promotes after ES buy
LSH has announced two promotions following its acquisition of ES Group in March. Sean Brew, who joined in 2011, will lead the expanded London team of around 400 staff. Patricia Dorrity will replace Brew as head of the national property and asset management team.
Dellal widow in estate claim
The widow of legendary property tycoon “Black” Jack Dellal is challenging the provisions made to her in his will, claiming his wealth at his death in 2012 was hugely underestimated. Dellal “to all intents and purposes left his entire estate”, valued at £15.4m, to his second wife, Ruanne Dellal, according to a high court judgment.
Labour in £5bn homes pledge
The Labour Party has pledged £5bn to build 125,000 homes
if it comes to power. Leader Ed Miliband claimed this weekend that his party would use the Conservatives’ first-time buyers’ ISA, announced by George Osborne in the Budget, to fund a new house building programme. Labour plans to build 200,000 homes annually by 2020.
West End office deals dip
West End office transactions have dipped to 600,000 sq ft in Q1, the lowest level since 2013. That total was countered by the 1.8m sq ft registered in the City – up by 31% on Q1 2014, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Combined, the central London office leasing market remains steady on Q1 2014 levels.
Peel plies Trafford Waters
Peel Land & Property has submitted a six-phase plan for its £1bn Trafford Waters scheme on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Peel has lodged a 3,000-home scheme, along with 875,000 sq ft of office space, with Trafford council. NJL Consulting and IBI group are advising on planning.
