Grosvenor chief slams housing plans

Mark-Preston-NEW-THUMB.jpegGrosvenor chief executive Mark Preston has slammed both Conservative and Labour solutions to the housing crisis.

Speaking on the Today programme this morning, he said both Right to Buy and rent caps fail to address the issue properly.

He said: “These are supply side problems, the problem we have is that we aren’t building enough houses.”

He added: “Governments of all colours have fiddled around on the demand side and to varying degrees have made little difference and in some places made it worse.”

Preston also said he was disappointed with the short-term nature of the proposals. He said: “Once again we see the five-year nature of politics dominating the agenda instead of what is a long-term problem that requires a long-term considered solution.”
