Colliers International has appointed Meg Brown from JLL to head a new equity placement team.
Brown will join in the summer to launch the Equity Placement Group, which will be responsible for placing equity into commercial residential and alternative asset markets.
Brown will also work on sourcing and structuring club deals and joint ventures.
The role will be a continuation of her work at JLL, where she raised equity for a number of the business’s fund management clients. Prior to this she worked for CR Investment Management, overseeing CMBS/NPL portfolios. She has also worked for Barclays Capital, CBRE and LaSalle Investment Management.
Brown will report to John Knowles, head of Collier’s capital advisory team.
The launch of the Equity Placement Group comes after Colliers noted more demand for placement activity from its loan advisory client base.
Clients who had used the team to raise debt for individual projects had become interested in raising equity for proposed funds, said Knowles. He added that the business will therefore be extending its offering through the hiring of Brown, who will provide greater depth of expertise.
The business expects to build a team of up to four equity placement professionals by the year end.
Brown is the fourth person to join Colliers’ capital markets business from JLL in recent months. The agent has also hired James Evans, Nicolai Dane and Matthew Beech for its banking advisory sector.
