Union Hanover Securities has secured planning consent for its £126m Penny Brook hotel scheme, a 249-bedroom hotel in Stratford City, E20.
The boutique hotel will comprise a 25-storey tower as well as restaurants and cafés on the ground-floor level.
The development also includes an adjacent Adagio aparthotel comprising 137 bedrooms split between 95 studios and 42 one-beds, all designed to brand standards and archetypal layouts.
Tower8 has been appointed project manager. Work is expected to start on site by early autumn.
Eric Jafari, managing director of Union Hanover Securities, said: “The unanimous backing of the London Legacy Development Corporation shows that it is as committed as we are to adding a new element of character to the Stratford masterplan.”
Tower8 director Adam Mursal said: “The dual-operator development represents an exciting, New York-style solution to a challenging plot in an area of London that is continuing the momentum of the Olympic legacy. The team has been brave enough to utilise ambitious architectural designs to deliver a new ‘living room’ for Stratford.”
