Sky’s the limit for EG Spitfire winner

VIDEO: Matthew Pearson last week joined a privileged band of people who have flown in a Spitfire, taking off on a stunning spring day at Goodwood Aerodrome, West Sussex.

Pearson, an asset manager at Telereal Trillium, beat 900 people in a game of heads and tails at the 2014 EG Awards – which raised £6,000 for LandAid – to grab a seat in the World War II aircraft.

The flight was donated by Boultbee LDN, established by Steve Boultbee-Brooks. Having invested in a Spitfire, the property entrepreneur and explorer set up the Boultbee Flight Academy with the aim of keeping a key part of British heritage alive.

Clad in flight suit and goggles, Pearson was in the air for 30 minutes of aerobatics and sweeping views of the South Downs National Park and English coastline.

His feet back on the ground, and with a smile as wide as the runway is long, Pearson described the feeling as “unbelievable”.

Boultbee LDN is once again giving someone the chance to fly in a Spitfire. Make sure you are at the EG Awards on 10 December for your chance to win.
