Cyclists put the pedal to the metal
Cycling legend Brian Robinson was among more than 200 riders to take in Yorkshire’s breathtaking scenery during the Carter Jonas Pedalthon.
Robinson, the first British rider to complete the Tour de France and win a tour stage, provided the necessary inspiration for the two-wheeled enthusiasts who took part in one of three rides – 90, 70 or 40 miles long – setting off from Ripley Castle in Harrogate on 8 May.
A host of Yorkshire food producers also supported the event, making for some enticing refuelling stations along the way.
Carter Jonas’ head of commercial in the North, David Aspland, said: “It was great to see such a variety of people taking part this year, from teams of colleagues and friends to a tandem, and all for two very good causes.”
The challengers raised money for LandAid and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The UK’s largest property event returns
MIPIM UK will be held on 21-23 October, returning for a second year with a series of new features and innovations.
At the largest property meet in the UK, there will be a dedicated London exhibition zone, in partnership with the London Chamber of Commerce, containing a fully interactive 3D digital model of the capital on a 5m x 3m wall.
The conference will also feature presentations and debates on topics including the impact of the digital revolution and will see the return of the EG/MIPIM UK Awards, recognising the efforts of developers and their partners in revitalising cities.

Fighting the good fight
More than 300 agents, landlords and developers sat on the edge of their seats during an evening of white-collar boxing on 21 May.
Contenders from Savills, Life Residential, Rushfield, Panther Securities, Winkworth, Infiniti Properties, Fraser and Co and Landlord Action put themselves forward for a rumble in the ring, which was filmed by Channel 5.
Former British world light-heavyweight champion John Conteh conducted a live auction, with lots including boxing memorabilia and a studio session with DJ Mark Ronson. The event raised £18,000 for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Everyone’s a winner in Arctic rugby game
Eversheds real estate associate Andrew Walker has returned from a three-week trek to the North Pole led by explorer Jock Wishart.
Walker and his expedition team broke a world record by scrumming down on the ice for the northernmost game of rugby ever staged, with teams captained by former England internationals Tim Stimpson and Ollie Phillips, and former British Lion Lee Mears as referee.
Walker raised money for the Wooden Spoon charity, which supports disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
